Moulin de Pierretoune is a beautiful 4 bedroom watermill built in 1550 set in 5 acres of riverside gardens. The mill is situated in wonderfully peaceful countryside in the heart of the Basque country, yet is only 30 minutes from the seaside resort of Biarritz. The mill is located on a river in a hamlet just outside the Basque village of La Bastide Clairence, voted one of the most beautiful villages in France. All local amenities such as bakers, supermarkets, restaurants, etc. are just a short drive away. The mill has recently been refurbished. There are 3 double bedrooms all overlooking the terrace and river and a smaller twin bedroom. All bedrooms have wooden floorboards, fans and mosquito nets. There is a newly fitted bathroom and separate WC on the first floor. On the ground floor are a large hallway, utility room, WC, large living/dining room with open fireplace and a newly refurbished kitchen with Belfast sink. There are several doors leading out from the living room onto the terrace which is perfect for al fresco dining and aperitifs. There is an island style garden with river banks ideal for picnics.

Local Property Notes:
The Basque coastline is world famous for its excellent surf conditions. There are miles and miles of golden sand. The glamourous seaside resort of Biarritz also has a beautiful art deco casino and a huge choice of excellent restaurants, bars and cafes and excellent shopping. Bayonne and St. Jean de Luz are also beautiful towns to visit. As well as the village of La Bastide Clairence which is an artisan village, there are several picture postcard villages nearby such as Cambo les Bains, Espelette, Sare, Ainhoa and the well-known village of St. Jean Pied de Port, on the pilgrimage route of St. James - Santiago de Compostella. Just across the Spanish border, 30 minutes drive away are San Sebastian and Bilbao which houses the Guggenheim museum. There are numerous excellent golf courses in the area, including the oldest in continental Europe in Pau. During the winter months, the ski resorts of the Pyrenees are only an hour and a half away.
