Es Castell, the town, has always played an important part in the history of Menorca, because of its strategic position being the most easterly town on the island, and consequently of Spain. One of the advantages of the villa being situated in Es Castell is that you can stroll down to Calas Fonts, the little fishing port, and enjoy an evening drink, or if you do not wish to cook, there are many restaurants to try. During the summer months there are many fiestas throughout the island, the Fiesta of Es Castell is normally the last week of July.
