Local Property Notes:
Things to do/see

Burriana beach (Blue Flag), has restaurants, showers, toilets, beach games, watersports, International telephone exchange and shops. If you are going to spend the day on the beach, it is well worth hiring a shade and sun beds they are very reasonable.
The beachside restaurants are open all day and every evening in summer. If you like prawns, try the Gambas Pil Pil (garlic and chilli) a local specialty, best one at La Barca.
Most of the restaurants provide good theatre, cooking paella outside in huge pans, barbecuing sardines etc. Best paella at Ayo the farthest restaurant and its entertaining just to watch the preparation.

The Balcon de Europa, the focal point of the old town. Its a picturesque area, lovely coastal views, nice pavement cafes, street theatre etc.
The tourist office is beside the Balcon de Europa.
The market takes place on Tuesdays far side of town. Best to get there early (9.30-10.30) before it gets too hot and crowded. Park in town and walk.

Car parking: Town centre underground keeps car cool! And leads out directly behind the Balcon.

Further a field:
The Nerja Caves, well signed on the left about 2 miles out of Nerja on the N340 at Maro, going east towards Almeria.

Frigiliana is a beautiful white mountain village about 5 miles from Nerja. Turn left at the lights on the N340, and go through the sets of traffic lights heading towards Malaga. About half a mile beyond the last set of lights take right hand turn at the roundabout - clearly signed. You will need to park at the entrance to the village and explore on foot as the village roads were designed for mules. Take paths up to the top left of the village and if agile continue up to the top of the mountain side, the view is wonderful then continue over to the right until you come to a wonderful garden with mainly colourful trees, you can follow the path and you will come down to the lower level, it is worth the trek for the view.

The village and beach of Maro, on the seaside of the mainN340 is a quiet little spot with lovely views.

Granada fabulous, make sure you see the Alhambra etc. Best to book your tickets before going as they stagger entrance times in order to avoid crowding. Takes about 3 hours to have a good look around. Ask at the Tourist Office. Granada also offers a range of very chic shops. If you drive, take the motorway there and recommend you take the old road back, via Lanjaron and Almunecar fantastic drive through the Sierra Nevada takes about 90 minutes from Nerja

Organized Tours- an excellent range of tours is available from Nerja including Granada (Alhambra, gardens and cathedral), the Alpujarras mountains/Sierra Nevada, Gibraltar, and Seville etc. Information is available in the apartment.
