Markets and colourful festivals are an essential part of Potuguese life,in big towns and tiny farming villages,in the fishing villages the fish are still caught using the gentle brown cows to pull in the nets, decked out in bright harnesses and bells.Fish is also a large part of the Portuguese diet, with an abundance of varieties and cooked to perfection in the many restaurants and cafes, washed down with the local wines! Our own particular speciality in this area is the "letoes", or suckling pig Food is central to Portuguese families lives, with little or no excuse needed for a "get together", the freindliness and warm hospitality of the Portuguese people cannot be missed, and will be one of the foremost memories of anyone choosing to spend their holiday in Portugal.
